Hurricane Idalia Struck Florida as a Category 3 Storm

CNN News reported today at 11:22 a.m. EDT that Hurricane Idalia is currently a Category 2 storm traveling throughout the north of Florida, with severe rainfall and winds of 110 mph.

“Destructive, life-threatening winds will occur where the core of Idalia moves onshore in the Big Bend region of Florida, with Hurricane Conditions expected elsewhere in portions of the Hurricane Warning area along the Florida Gulf Coast,” stated The National Hurricane Center.

The NHC also reported that severe winds are expected throughout parts of northern Florida and southern Georgia around the eye of the storm. Inhabitants of these areas should prepare for ongoing blackouts. Detrimental hurricane winds are also forecasted for parts of eastern Georgia and southeastern South Carolina, where Hurricane Warnings have been issued.

Also, sudden, urban, mild river floods with significant effects are predicted from the Florida Big Ben through central Georgia and South Carolina through eastern North Carolina into Thursday.
