Following guidance from the Bahamas Department of Meteorology, the Disaster Risk Management Authority has given the ALL-CLEAR for Hurricane Melissa in the Central and Southeastern Bahamas. We thank our Family Island Administrators, local Disaster Committees, International and national partners for their service during this activation.
Alert #28 | Hurricane Melissa — 3 AM EDT, Thu Oct 30: Heavy rain and gusty winds continue in parts of the Central & Southeast Bahamas, but conditions are expected to subside by sunrise as Melissa moves away.
Residents should remain indoors until winds weaken and follow official updates.

Alert #27 | Hurricane Melissa — 12 AM EDT, Thu Oct 30: The core of Hurricane Melissa has moved away from The Bahamas, but strong winds, heavy rain & flooding continue in parts of the Central & Southeast Bahamas tonight.
Conditions are expected to subside by sunrise. Residents should remain indoors and stay tuned for official updates.

Alert #26 | Hurricane Melissa — 9 PM EDT, Wed Oct 29: Melissa is bringing damaging winds, flooding rain & dangerous storm surge across the Central & Southeast Bahamas.
The core is passing near Rum Cay & San Salvador, with hurricane conditions continuing in affected islands and tropical storm conditions spreading into the Turks & Caicos.
Residents should remain indoors until conditions improve and follow official updates.

The core is passing over the Crooked Island Passage, with the strongest impacts in Ragged Island, Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Rum Cay, Samana Cay & San Salvador.
A Hurricane Warning remains for the Central & Southeast Bahamas; Tropical Storm Warning for the Turks & Caicos Islands.

Strongest impacts expected this afternoon and evening in Ragged Island, Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Rum Cay, Samana Cay & San Salvador as the storm’s core moves near the Crooked Island Passage.
