Alert #4 | Hurricane Melissa — 3 AM EDT, Mon Oct 27: Category 4 Hurricane Melissa is bringing destructive winds, storm surge, and life-threatening flooding to Jamaica tonight.

A Hurricane Alert is in effect for the Central & Southeast Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Residents should prepare now for possible hurricane conditions by Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Alert #3 | Hurricane Melissa — 12 AM EDT, Mon Oct 27: Melissa remains a Category 4 hurricane with winds near 145 mph. A Hurricane Alert is in effect for the Central & Southeast Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Residents should prepare for possible hurricane or tropical storm conditions by Tuesday night or Wednesday, with heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and coastal surge expected if the current track holds.

Alert #1 | Hurricane Melissa — 6 PM EDT, Sun Oct 26: Hurricane Melissa has strengthened into a Category 4 storm and continues to intensify. A Hurricane Alert is in effect for the Central & Southeast Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Residents should prepare for possible hurricane conditions by Tuesday night or Wednesday. Melissa could bring heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and coastal inundation.

Tropical Storm Jerry Update (Oct 9, 12PM): Jerry is moving toward the Northern Leeward Islands and is expected to pass near or northeast of them later today. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbuda. Winds are near 65 mph, and Jerry could become a hurricane by late Friday or Saturday.

Tropical Storm Jerry Update (Oct 7, 6PM): Tropical Storm Watches are in effect for parts of the Northern Leeward Islands. Jerry is moving west at 23 mph and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane within a day. The system poses no threat to The Bahamas at this time.
