Warnings:
Hurricane Warning: Central & SE Bahamas (Exuma, Long Island, Inagua, Mayaguana & others)
Tropical Storm Warning + Hurricane Watch: Turks & Caicos
Location: 155 mi SW of Kingston, Jamaica
Winds: 175 mph
Moving NW at 2 mph, turning NE Tues–Wed toward the Bahamas
Impacts:
Strong winds, flooding rain (5–10″) & 4–6 ft storm surge Tues–Thurs
Conditions worsening from Tues night (SE Bahamas) to Thurs (Central Bahamas)

Alert #9 | Hurricane Melissa — 6 PM EDT, Mon Oct 27: Category 5 Hurricane Melissa is moving northwest with warnings now in effect for the Central & Southeast Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Hurricane conditions are expected in the Southeast Bahamas Tuesday and the Central Bahamas Wednesday–Thursday. Tropical storm conditions will reach the Turks & Caicos Tuesday.
Residents should complete all preparations now for strong winds, heavy rain, flooding, and storm surge up to 6 ft.

Alert #8 | Hurricane Melissa — 13 PM EDT, Mon Oct 27: Category 5 Hurricane Melissa continues moving slowly northwest and is expected to turn north later today.
Tropical storm and hurricane conditions are expected in the Southeast Bahamas & Turks and Caicos starting Tuesday, and in the Central Bahamas from Wednesday to Thursday.
Residents should complete preparations now for strong winds, heavy rain, flooding, and coastal surge.

The storm is expected to turn north later today, bringing hurricane or tropical storm conditions to the Southeast Bahamas and Turks & Caicos by Tuesday, and to the Central Bahamas by Wednesday–Thursday.
Residents should prepare now for strong winds, heavy rain, flooding, and storm surge.
