Alert #23 | Hurricane Melissa — 12 PM EDT, Wed Oct 29: Melissa is now off the east coast of Cuba and moving into the Southeast Bahamas, bringing damaging winds, heavy rain, flooding, and dangerous storm surge.
A Hurricane Warning remains in effect for the Central & Southeast Bahamas, and a Tropical Storm Warning for the Turks & Caicos Islands.
Strongest impacts expected across Ragged Island, Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Rum Cay, Samana Cay & San Salvador this afternoon as the core passes near the Crooked Island Passage.
Residents should remain indoors and stay tuned for official updates.

Hurricane Warning remains in effect for the Central & Southeast Bahamas.
Ragged Island, Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Rum Cay, San Salvador & Exuma will face the strongest impacts.
Stay indoors, avoid flooded areas & follow official updates.

Alert #21 | Hurricane Melissa — 6 AM EDT, Wed Oct 29: Melissa is moving over eastern Cuba, bringing damaging winds, flooding rain & dangerous storm surge.
Tropical storm & hurricane conditions are now impacting the Central & Southeast Bahamas and will reach the Turks & Caicos later today.
Ragged Island, Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Rum Cay, San Salvador & Exuma are expected to face the strongest impacts — including winds up to 115 mph, heavy rain & 5–8 ft storm surge.
Residents should remain indoors and stay alert.
